Smallmouth Bass
The Winnipeg River holds a healthy population of hard-fighting Smallmouth Bass. This fish is pound-for-pound the strongest fighter of all fresh water species—fly fishermen and light tackle spin fishermen can attest to this. Typically they’re found in broken granite shorelines early in the season and at the edge of current in the summer months.
Make sure you consider picking up a few of these proven bass baits:
Tube Jigs (with heads), 1/8 ounce in smoke or pumpkinseed
Flukes, 5-inch white or albino
Mepps Spinners, #2 plain or bucktail in gold or silver
Beetle Spins, 1/8 ounce in black or white
